of the History of Crude Oil in Nigeria

Research Title: History of Crude Oil in Nigeria.
Problem: Lack of documented historical information (no common frame of reference) on the history the oil & gas industry in Nigeria.
Scope: Starting with the exploratory works of the discovery of crude oil in Niger Delta, Nigeria in the early nineteen-fifties to the exploitation activities and the social and environmental impact in the last 80 years.
Purpose: Produce an A-Z study that looks at the economics, social and environmental realities of the discovery of crude oil in the Niger Delta of Nigeria, and the research is intended to serve as an aid to sources worldwide.
Participants: A (multi-discipline) collaboration of local and international researchers and university students from The Netherlands and Nigeria. (Minimum of 12 international students and 12 Nigerian students.)
Research Disciplines: incl. geography, sociology, (development) economics, political-science, environmental studies, public administration, law and history.
Outcome: A comprehensive and informative report (on the A-Z) history of crude oil in Nigeria.
Start: Second part of 2022
Duration: min. 2 academic periods (face 1: desktop; face 2: fieldwork)
